Privacy policy
The short version: No Budget collects nothing. The app has no internet access, no account, no ads, no analytics and no crash reporting. Everything you type stays on your phone.
Who we are
No Budget: Paycheck vs Bills (“No Budget” or “the app”) is published on Google Play by Explementary Apps, a publishing name of Explemental LLC, a company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. “We” in this policy means Explemental LLC. You can reach us at apps@explemental.com.
What we collect
Nothing. The app doesn’t have Android’s internet permission, so it can’t send anything to us or anyone else. There’s no sign-in, no account, no advertising ID, no analytics and no crash-reporting tool built in. We never see your bills, paychecks, amounts or notes.
What stays on your phone
The app keeps the following in its private storage on your phone, where other apps can’t read it:
- the bills and income you add: names, amounts, dates, repeat schedules, notes and which account they belong to
- which bills you’ve marked paid and which income you’ve marked received
- your settings, such as theme and reminder defaults
Android’s automatic cloud backup and its device-to-device transfer are both switched off for this app, so the operating system never copies this data to Google Drive or to a new phone.
Backups you make yourself
Backup & restore lets you save a backup file. You choose where it goes with Android’s file picker: your phone’s Downloads folder, an SD card, or a cloud drive such as Google Drive. The file contains everything listed above as plain, unencrypted text, so treat it like any other personal document. If you save it to a cloud service, that service’s privacy policy covers the copy. We never receive it.
Permissions and why the app asks for them
- Notifications
- To show the bill reminders you switch on. The app asks the first time you turn on a reminder. A reminder shows the bill’s name and amount and is created by the app on your phone, not sent from a server.
- Run at startup
- Android clears scheduled reminders when the phone restarts. This lets the app set them again after a restart, without you having to open it.
- Alarms & reminders
- Lets reminders arrive at the exact time you picked. On newer Android versions it’s off until you allow it in Settings. Without it, reminders still arrive, but can be up to about an hour late.
None of these give the app access to your contacts, location, photos, files or the internet.
Google Play
You buy the app through Google Play, and Google handles the payment under Google’s privacy policy. Google shares order records with us, such as the order number, price and country of purchase, which we use only for refunds, accounting and taxes. We never receive your card details.
Google Play may also show us anonymous, combined statistics, such as install counts and crash reports from people who chose to share diagnostics with Google. Those come from Google’s systems, not from the app.
If you email us
When you write to support, we receive your email address and whatever you send. We use it only to reply to you. We don’t share it and don’t add you to any mailing list. Ask us and we’ll delete the conversation.
Deleting your data
Your data lives only on your phone, so you control it:
- Delete single entries in the app.
- Delete everything with Settings → Apps → No Budget → Storage → Clear storage (the wording varies a little between phones), or by uninstalling the app.
- Backup files are separate. Delete them wherever you saved them.
We hold no copy of your data, so there’s nothing for us to delete, and nothing we could restore if you lose your phone without a backup.
Automatic cleanup after two years
To keep the app fast, it automatically deletes records older than two years: the marks showing a bill was paid or income received, and one-time changes such as a skipped, moved or re-priced payment. Your bills, paychecks and their schedules stay until you delete them. The cleanup runs on your phone when the app starts.
Children
No Budget is meant for adults handling their own bills and isn’t directed at children under 13. It collects no personal information from anyone, children included.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and the effective date at the top. If a change affects what happens to your data, for example if the app ever needed internet access, we’ll also say so in that update’s release notes on Google Play.
